Christmas came earlier for five local charities. The 13th annual Bishop’s Dinner for Community Needs has announced its distribution of funds to the following groups:
– Welcome In Drop-In Centre, $16,000;
– Ignatius Jesuit Centre sacred ground campaign, $15,000;
– Guelph Lake Interpretive Centre student nature program, $15,000;
– Hospice Wellington, $15,000;
– Guelph Wish Fund for Children, $10,000; and
– Michael House, $10,000.
This event, sponsored by the Wellington Catholic District School Board and its sponsoring organizations, continues to offer financial support to the entire community. Each of the recipient organizations serve the needs of some of the most vulnerable citizens, regardless of religious affiliation.
Next year’s evening is scheduled for Oct. 6 at the Italian Canadian Club in Guelph.
This past October the venue was sold out, which speaks to the outstanding generosity of those in the City of Guelph and County of Wellington, officials state.
